Your PTA: Better Together!

Join the North Shoreview Montessori PTA

PTA is the nation’s oldest, largest and highest profile volunteer organization working on behalf of public schools, children and families. PTA volunteers work in their schools and communities to improve the education, health and welfare of all children and youth.  In addition, the PTA has negotiated other benefits for you:

Membership in the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is open to anyone and becoming a PTA member is easy. Membership is only $7.50 per person or $15 per couple annually. Remember that membership is open to grandparents and other relatives, friends, and neighbors.  Become a member today!

A portion of your membership dues is returned to the San Mateo-Foster City PTA Council, which further allocates the funds to the District, State, and National PTAs. This means that if you join the North Shoreview Montessori PTA, you are also a member of these larger organizations. For information please see their respective websites:

Become a member today! Together, we can continue to be a powerful voice for children and a strong advocate for public education. If you have any questions about PTA membership, please contact the NSM PTA at

PTA Board Meetings

Monthly PTA Board and General meetings are open to the entire school community.  Dates and locations can be found on the school calendar or through the weekly newsletter.

The PTA Communications team helps get the word out about NSM school events, volunteer needs, and community news through the website, online calendars, weekly emails, and Thursday envelopes.  To help save resources, we encourage families to sign up to receive notices online, and paper copies are provided only to the youngest child in each household. For families that don’t have regular access to the Internet, we offer a paper newsletter including all items posted on the website, and current events are posted on bulletin boards at the school entrances.  Past Montessori Messenger newsletters are archived here. Please contact us at with any questions or to volunteer to help write and distribute notices.  News items are due by noon on Fridays for distribution the following Thursday.

PTA Resources

The NSM PTA is excited to announce a new on-line parent resource called, “a free, self-paced online course that prepares you to make a DIFFERENCE in your school district.  California’s education system is complex and changing fast.  Whether you are a parent, a teacher or a community member, Ed100 helps you learn what you need to know to be informed, credible and ready for action.  Each lesson takes about 5 minutes, in English or in Spanish.”

Not only are there provocative and current lesson themes, but there is a thoughtful blog discussing current events that may impact our children’s education: blog is easy to join – simply visit the website and click ‘Start Learning’.  Every time you complete a lesson, you enter our school into a raffle to win $1000!  Please take time today to sign up and start learning!
